Hello,
I have just went through a very long period of research and finally ordered a shoulder holster for my P220S. I thought that some of my experiences might help others make a decision on what holsters to get or avoid.
Galco VHS (Vertical Holster):
This was my first choice due to price, availability, and good reviews. But, when I received this holster I discovered that it had no tie-down option for the holster side. This allowed the holster to swing out if I bent to the side and also made for awkward draws. Worst of all, the provided mag carrier was big enough for a double-stack mag, leaving my single-stacks loose and rattling around. They would fall out with no resistance if un-snapped.
I contacted Galco about this, and they said this was normal because the mag carrier is a compromise so that the Sig Rig could accommodate other Sigs with double-stack mags. They informed me that a different mag carrier that they sell for ~$80 would be a better fit. This was no acceptable to me because I did not pay $180 for a compromise, and I returned it immediately.
Andrews Leather Monarch:
I just ordered a Monarch rig and an IWB holster from Andrews. Based on my conversation with Sam, I am already highly impressed with his business and am expecting a wonderful product when it arrives late July or in August. i will provide a review of the rigs at that time.
Note: If you are considering an Andrews holster, now is the time to order. He told me that he just finished a big run of gun leather for an upcoming movie, and is now gearing up for a run for "us" in July.
