Hello,

I have just went through a very long period of research and finally ordered a shoulder holster for my P220S. I thought that some of my experiences might help others make a decision on what holsters to get or avoid.

Galco VHS (Vertical Holster):

This was my first choice due to price, availability, and good reviews. But, when I received this holster I discovered that it had no tie-down option for the holster side. This allowed the holster to swing out if I bent to the side and also made for awkward draws. Worst of all, the provided mag carrier was big enough for a double-stack mag, leaving my single-stacks loose and rattling around. They would fall out with no resistance if un-snapped.

I contacted Galco about this, and they said this was normal because the mag carrier is a compromise so that the Sig Rig could accommodate other Sigs with double-stack mags. They informed me that a different mag carrier that they sell for ~$80 would be a better fit. This was no acceptable to me because I did not pay $180 for a compromise, and I returned it immediately.

Andrews Leather Monarch:

I just ordered a Monarch rig and an IWB holster from Andrews. Based on my conversation with Sam, I am already highly impressed with his business and am expecting a wonderful product when it arrives late July or in August. i will provide a review of the rigs at that time.

Note: If you are considering an Andrews holster, now is the time to order. He told me that he just finished a big run of gun leather for an upcoming movie, and is now gearing up for a run for "us" in July.

I have ordered 4 or 5 holsters from Andrews and am more than satisfied with them. He will even make changes in his regular holsters for you if you talk to him about your requirements.

Thanks for the responses.

I already felt fairly safe spending so much money on something I haven't seen in person, based on the previous reviews of Andrews, but more reinforcement definitely doesn't hurt!

I feel like a kid in a candy store when I look at his website. I literally want everything he sells. I can see myself with one (or two) of his holster for every gun that I own.

And now I am eye-balling the three-mag pouch thinking that it would better balance out the heavier P220S...

I have finally received my Andrews holsters, and despite have high expectations, those expectations have been surpassed; by far.

Sam should really update his photos on the website, they definitely don't do justice to these beautiful holsters. I have already ordered two more, one for the S&W 686 and another Monarch Rig as a christmas gift.

I will post some photos as soon as I am able to get off work before dusk. The low wattage fixtures in my place need some supplemental sunlight in order to take good pictures.
