I picked up a couple of 38/44's recently. I did a range report on the last one a month or so ago and so here is a nice 1930 (refinished) 38/44 heavy Duty. The serial number puts it in the April to May time frame.
This is the first 50 shots I took with it. At 15 yards the grips are to small for my hands so I could not hold a steady group.
Here is the post war (wood grips) and the pre-war (ivory grips).
The grips are ivory, but frankly they look neat, but I don't like them. Pre-war Magna grips are ordered, but not here yet. Also the grips have lines on them because I had not cleaned them from shooting. I was adjusting the color to get the variation to show up. They are actually much whiter then they look.
Finally the 38/44's with all of the rest of the 5 screw N frames. The next addition will be a nice pre-25 model of 1955, which I will pick up in about 3 weeks YEAH!
Well, now it is on to the next quest. After the pre-25, I need to pick up a good pre-war outdoorsman!
