I picked up a couple of 38/44's recently. I did a range report on the last one a month or so ago and so here is a nice 1930 (refinished) 38/44 heavy Duty. The serial number puts it in the April to May time frame.

This is the first 50 shots I took with it. At 15 yards the grips are to small for my hands so I could not hold a steady group.

Here is the post war (wood grips) and the pre-war (ivory grips).

The grips are ivory, but frankly they look neat, but I don't like them. Pre-war Magna grips are ordered, but not here yet. Also the grips have lines on them because I had not cleaned them from shooting. I was adjusting the color to get the variation to show up. They are actually much whiter then they look.

Finally the 38/44's with all of the rest of the 5 screw N frames. The next addition will be a nice pre-25 model of 1955, which I will pick up in about 3 weeks YEAH!

Well, now it is on to the next quest. After the pre-25, I need to pick up a good pre-war outdoorsman!

WOW! Josey like! You have a great collection. GREAT! Have you thought about Pachmayr or even Tyler-T-grips? Those ivory grips are worth a fortune in case you didn't know.:what:

I am currently on a compaign to learn to shoot the revolvers just like the "first owners" did. So as close to stock as possible. Because of that, no Tyler gripers or target grips. Yes I have both, but I decided about 4 months ago to learn to shoot magnas well before I change them back. Now that I am doing it enough, I have sort of taken to the grips and like them.

I just wish I did not have to wait on the pre-25 for a few weeks. What a bummer......

Wow... every 38/44 I've seen for sale has been worn out.. those look great. I like the ivory grips.

I love them!

My .38/44 Heavy Duty looks almost that good! (Mine wasn't refinished.) I cannot post a picture, but i certaily shoots very well.
