Here's a repost (from TF) of a review of Rob Haught's 2 day Shotgun Class at the Prado Olympic Shooting Park two weeks ago.

Rob's prolific teaching style tremendously enhanced the 2-day course last weekend. The first day started with a demo and introduction to Rob's unconventional push/pull system, loading/unloading, in-position and out-of-position combat loads, manipulations, ready positions, shooting on the move, pivots and turns, multiple target engagements, and man on man drills. The second day reviewed the first days material, introduced the CQB position, and a whole lot of shooting from fixed positions and on the move. Rob covered transitions to handgun, and we finished off the course with his "school drills" designed to maintain the fundamental skills with the 12 gauge. SureFire donated a flashlight to the student with best slug group fired offhand at 50 yards.

The class left most students muttering that they wondered why they'd ever use anything but the CQB platform again. While I respected the 12 gauge pump for its power and versatility, I never enjoyed shooting the shotgun in a tactical role. Rob changed my opinion of the 12 gauge and makes shooting the gun enjoyable and satisfying.

My original motive for hosting this course was to give myself an opportunity to train with Rob and see his unique method, as Rob rarely comes to the "left coast". I'm looking forward to hosting him again for a pistol course in Spring of 2005. Thanks to Rob for putting up with all of us, and also to every single student for all your hard work.

Special thanks to SureFire guys Barry, Brooke, George and Joe for all the support.

Tim
