Looking for suggestions on a caliber for a new revolver. I figured I do so much reloading that it would be time for another revolver. Does anyone shoot a .45ACP revolver? I don't want a Ruger because I can't stand their triggers. I have an "extra" 1911 that just sits in my safe so I want to trade it in. Thanks for any suggestions.

I have a Smith & Wesson 625-3 that is a .45 ACP, (model 625 stainless, 25 blue). It uses moon clips witch to me are much easier to use for fast reloads than any other speed loaders. This is my "nightstand" gun.
.45 ACP revolvers have been around since 1917 so you should not have a problem finding one.

If you reload, you NEED a .45 Colt...;) Of course, the Ruger Blackhawk can take full advantage of the caliber, short of a Freedom Arms anyway. Or, you could get a S&W Mountain gun in .45 Colt. Be a good outdoor carry. The little Taurus would be good for carry, but I'd rather have a bigger, more capable gun in this caliber to take full advantage of the power levels it can produce.

Or, how's about a .41 magnum. If I go for a new caliber, it's probably going to be .41 magnum. I've always had an infatuation with that one. I don't have a .40 or a 10mm, but I'm more of a revolver kinda guy.

Someone posted a pic of a S&W titanium airlite in .45 ACP. I bet that would be an awesome carry piece.

If you reload and do 45 ACP, get a good S&W 625 in 45ACP and reload some good ole foot stompers, the ACP can be loaded with some powders that in either a Ruger convertable or a good solid S&W 625 will breath some hellfire and brimstone. They are not in the 44 mag category but they can let you know you touched off a stout load.

I agree with the S&W .45ACP. I have a Pre 26 and it just feels right when you shoot it. Not only can you load it heavy, .45 stuff seems to come on sale pretty often. I also have the high cost 10mm and .41 and don't reload yet. They're fun to shoot, but EXPENSIVE. Get the .45 or a .357 that you can plink with .38 specials.

A reloader's revolver, that isn't a Ruger...

Smith 625 sounds really good. If moonclips start to bug you, get some 45 autorim brass. They have a stronger base, too, so they can be loaded a skosh hotter than ACP brass.

I have a 625 I love it shoots better than i can and the added bonus of not chasing brass all over hell and earth.Rimz full moon clips are ok for plinking but the steel are better for carrying. Hate the half moon clips you get with the Smiths PITA to load and unload.

If you want a reloader's dream, get a .41 Magnum. I've never owned one that wasn't wonderfully accurate and easy to work up an accurate load for.

I saw 4 .45ACP revolvers today that looked really nice, but the place I went to was mobbed. All 4 were 625's and one looked brand new. I will go back at the end of the week when it is less busy.
