just wondering if the 19-3 in this condition is worth the price, she likes the taurus a lil better but if this is a good price for the smith might have to snatch it up.

Does your wife want a 4" .357 Magnum? Most women don't have hands large enough for those target stocks.

What will she be doing with the revolver? Personal defense, hunting, target shooting?

We need to know some specifics about what she wants.

she is very small actually but loves the feel of the s&w.. this revolver will be mainly just targets and fun we have our ccw guns and hd guns just looking to add a revolver to the mix for fairly cheap

kinda wondering more if the smith is worth the money its fairly worn but havent had an issue with it (friends gun)..

Before we go picking guns for the wife please consider this.

Since this is her choice she needs to have a good rounded education about firearms. The details are in the links. This is before she gets a gun.

These will be helpful for her and you.

...standing by, hoping for enlightenment as to why someone scoped that revolver. Per your question, the Smith is the better buy. Even though I'm not a SW fan, and have a Taurus that I wouldn't trade for love or money, my vote goes to the S&W.

S&W 4" k-19
although used, it's a known performance gun, as in known by you/your friend, and it's a good price

"loves the feel of the s&w"
"we have our ccw guns and hd guns"
sounds like wife is not a newbie shooter, you said we/our, not I/my

"this revolver will be mainly just targets and fun"
any steel 4" trumps any UL 2" for that, IMO

PS
if she has not herself shot ultralite snubbies before (and you implied small hands), it's not that likely to be a real fun-gun for her, not even in "just" 38
feel-in-shop and feel-when-fired, as you know, very different things

The only thing she doesn't.like about the s&w is the length that's y the other choice is a 2 inch gun.. she's nor a newbie shooter at all. So if the Smith is worth the asking price I'm gonna borrow it to take her shooting with it

I went and got the Gun loaded it up and half of them tried to slide out before I got the cylinder closed.. is this concerning?

Only because you're not holding the gun pointed down a little while closeing it like you should be.

To clear a revolver cylinder correctly and completely it needs to be pointed strongly upwards while the ejector is pushed. To load and close it the barrel needs to be pointed down at least a little. Most faster folks when reloading point the gun down a lot so the rounds fall cleanly into place as the speed loader releases them. So a smooth "fall into place" cylinder is actually an advantage. But it does mean that they can slide out just as easily. So just learn to point the gun up or down moreso as you're unloading or loading respectively.

If this'll be more a range toy then I suspect she'll soon come to appreciate the longer barrel and greater weight of the S&W over what sounds like the smaller carry guns she uses for defense.

It would also be a great gun for some "his and hers" IDPA shooting.

Shot it with 38 social rounds.. we both loved it.. but where can I find a rear sight and hot much are they

Ummmm..... guys?

The wife already answered the question. Look at what the OP wrote:

There you have it. She expressed the preference. It's going to be HER gun. Me? I'd pick the Smith. But this isn't gonna be my gun. Get her the one she wants, rather than the one you want her to have.

She liked the Taurus based apon looks alone I took her to shoot both and she thinks the 2 inch ultralite iisnt what she wanted in a revolver she like the feel of shooting the Smith now

Yep that's What she has decided on thanks to some comments on here she shot it and loved it now I pulled the scope off and looking for a rear sight

They look like regular S&W target grips. I wonder if some previous owner before your buddy carved that in there for a reason of his own?

Your wife knows the finer things in life. My own 6inch Model 19 will be the last gun I would ever part with. It would come down to the 19 and my CZ Shadow, one in each hand and my brain in lockup from the decision.... :D

If I had to guess at the sights I'd say that the shorter of the two in the Midway links is for the 4 inch gun and the longer for the 6 inch barrels. Hopefully someone with a 4 inch gun that knows will step up for you.

If it doesn't have the kit already I can heartily recomend the Wolff spring kit and use the lightest rebound block spring from the kit. This will make the double action pull feel amazing. Then go find a Speed Steel match or something of the sort and make that 19 really SING !
