there's a gun show this weekend at the fairgrounds. i know it's not the nation's gun show or a showplace show, but hey, they've got guns, don't they? :p

i think i will be there on sat. who else is going?

For all who plan to attend the Richmond show this weekend, Greentop -- the area’s largest firearms store -- is having a major sale 11 through 14 August.

Would y'all just stop it !!!!!

Will not be tempted, will not be tempted...repeat after me.

To answer your question, it's looking like I won't make it to the show until Sunday. Then again, the rain could change my schedule for the weekend.

www.vcdl.org = good thing

Green Top = "Virginia's Largest Dealer"

The show at the fairgrounds was at one time THE show to go to. Times sure have changed, but I'll probably go anyway.

Simplest way to get to green top is head north to 295. Go west a couple miles. Get on Route 1 north (right exit off the access road). A couple shopping centers down the road will be Green Top on the left, identifiable buy the green roof. You have to drive a little ways past to cross the center divider. It's a great place, the rifle racks are out where you can pick up your favorites.

I've heard that this show has more C&R stuff than new firearms. I've never been to this show before so I can't be sure. I'm looking for a stardard length gas tube for my AR15 and a member of another board I read said that I may not find one there because they don't have many AR type rifles there.

WIth all the rain and bad weather I guess I won't be doing any shooting or yard work so a show maybe the best way to spend the weekend.

Greentop is a pretty good place. They've got a ton of merchandise crammed into a pretty good sized store.

All types of guns too.

Directions:
Leave fairgrounds by turning right on Laburnum Ave. (the street at the main gate) heading west. Drive to Chamberland Ave. and turn right (you will see the signs pointing to I-95) which would head you toward I-95 north. Follow Chamberland Ave. (also known as Rt. 2 and Rt. 301) and it will put you on I-95 north. Take the Atlee, Altmount exit (just pass the merger of I-95 and I-295) and turn left off the exit (there is construction on the exit so you can't miss it). Follow that road to the end, turn right at the light (there is a lot directly across from the light full of boats, trailers, and trucks) and you wil be looking at Greentop. Drive past the store and there will be a crossing in the divider.

Thank goodness for this board...otherwise I would have never known about this show. Guess I have no choice but to attend now. Shame I can't actually buy anything yet (need to change my id's to show a street address, and I'm too poor anyways), but it's nice to just go and look. Although..maybe I can try selling my M1 carbine...

I always enjoy making at stop at Green Top. The guys that work there are great, and they all seem to be pretty knowledgeable. Some of the customers that frequent there are a trip too.

I'll probably be wearing an HK hat, carrying an M1 carbine, and looking grumpy because I never bought a sling for the blasted thing...

I just got back. I didn't buy anything but I saw a Saiga shotgun that I really want. Someday. Dark Sun surplus is cool, I got my k31 from them. However, the Saiga seemed a little expensive at about $340, i was expecting $280 or so.

I have one complaint about this show (and all other gun shows):

WHAT'S WITH ALL THE SWASTIKAS????

Why do gun shows have to be full of nazi retards??

It's scary. Doesn't that scare off Jewish shooters and stuff?

i ALMOST bought a WASR 10 from dark sun, but the front sights all looked a little canted. i did get a P-22 from trader jerry for $199! even though i've heard mixed reviews about them, i wanted something that my girlfriend can shoot.

I didnt buy anything either, but I did see a really nice RIA 1911 for 299. I also saw a bunch of SKS' for 129. I'm going to have to buy another one of those when I can get the money. I'm thinking that the table prices at the Richmond Raceway cost more, because the prices at that show always seem a bit higher than the one at the Showplace. As far as the swastikas go, I didn't really see that much of them this time, but they were there. Oh..there was one table I couldn't help but to stop and drool over..one guy had what looked to be 50 or 60 lugers. The real prize was that he had one of the Luger carbines. Of course the price tag said $14,500, but it was a real beauty.

I didn't make it. I bought a Colt WWI reproduction late Friday afternoon in Stuart's Draft and then stayed up way too late last night playing cards. I didn't win enough to pay for the gun, but I made a dent in it. :) John

Well it's a little late but I was going to say not to waste your time going to this show. There's no ammo there and it is almost ALL C&R (which is fine if you're into C&R).

Save your money for the C&E show at the Showplace in Oct!

Heck, if I only went to gun shows when I needed something I'd never get to go. :) But I don't mind looking at stuff I'll never (never say never) buy and chatting with the salsa, jerky, book, and knife vendors. The knife guy is killing my budget with his Chris Reeves prices.

Anyway, it's better exercise than taking in a movie and more fun than painting the house.
