I have a Stainless Mini-14 that has been camo spray painted. What would be best to use to remove the paint? There is a lot of little nooks and crannys. So I am thinking something I could soak it in would be best.

Anyone do this before?

Try soap & water first.
Some camo paint is water soluble so you can get it off after hunting season.

If it's Acme enamal spray paint from the hardware store or WallyWorld, a soak in acetone or lacquer thinner might take it off.
It might also be hard on the stock finish.

If it's epoxy enamel, all bets are off!

If its something like Testors model paints of Krylon, try Hoppe's, Gun Scrubber, or somethng similar, and use a toothbrush and some steel wool. Thats alsways worked for me, but it will take some work.

If the paint is something like Aluma Hyde II, or maybe Duracoat, etc, your probably SOL unless you have a bead blaster.

I bought three Enfield 2A'a that were SLATHERED in black enamel paint. Went to the Dollar Store and bought several cans of oven cleaner. Disassamble rifle, spray on, let it soak, put on some heavy gloves, then scrub the rifle with a stiff, plastic bristled brush, rinse with water, dry, then oil. Satisfaction guaranteed and it's harmless to the wood and metal. Do this outside and make SURE you wear the gloves as the as the oven cleaner is caustic.
This stuff also works to remove the cheesy poly-type finish that Ruger and Remington used years ago.
Good luck,
