I agree with OP that it ought to have a name. "Taint"? Taint neck and taint freebore.

Taint has another slang meaning that is not safe for work.

I find the O/P has some pretty good suggestion in his first post.

“Step” and “end of the neck” are what I have always heard it called. It is where the chamber “neck” section ends and the “freebore” section begins. It’s the dimensional stop against which over length necks would jam.
