A few months ago I traded my old Marlin 30-30 to the 14year old son of a co-worker in exchange, I got my yard mowed for the rest of the year. Well he showed up this weekend for what I hope is the last mow (I'm having the whole yard paved over next year) and he had a story to tell. He managed to go out on what I believe is Oklahoma's first youth antlerless deer season. Said he had just about given up around noon when his doe came walking down a gully about 40yrds from his treestand. One shot thru the rib cage and he has his first deer. Dad said they had to track her, but she only went about 75-100yrds. I guess I can still reload for hunting rounds afterall. Hopefully he'll have some more good luck during the regualr season. Nice to see the old Marlin is back to it's old ways. Last deer in it's sights was a small fork my brother took with it in 1988. I hope it has a few more in it's future.

I bought my 336CS in '88 when a Best Products was going out of business. NIB gave $150 for it. I tried to sight it in w/ iron sights and hard buttplate, but it was too painful. I stuck it away in the safe. Last year I rearranged scopes and had an extra one. Decided to put it on the thutty-thutty. Also bought a slip-on recoil pad. Ended up with the Marlin's first deer in 15 years. 1 shot-drop-n-flop!

Hmm

You have me thinking. If I remember correctly my Father's (via my Grandfather) '94 .32 Special hasn't taken a whitetail since 1958. Maybe its time to dust the old girl off!
