Al was a good man, a gruff-voiced but kindly gentleman who looked like a pint-sized Lee Van Cleef with a ponytail. He loved THR, and NFW was one of his very favorite forums. He considered being on staff here a great honor, and he earned his place, tirelessly policing the Trading Post.

I was assigned to a unit in VA Beach for a couple of years, so was lucky enough during that time to get to see Al once a month most of the time, and more on occasion. I haven't been assigned to that unit for 4 years, but Al and I stayed close. He was about the right age to be my father, and he delighted in the pictures of my kids. I just wish COVID travel concerns hadn't taken the opportunity for my kids to meet "Uncle Al" in person.

Sad news, I’ve been laid up myself having just returned from a week and a half hospital stay. We will all surely miss Doc’s posts and manor, just another amazing THR Member who added so much to what is being built here day after week after decade.

Here’s to bikerdoc, and prayers for his family who should truly be content having known such an amazing man. Rest well.
