Is anyone using 223 with Reloder15? I have heard that 15 is a good powder for 60 grain and above bullets but don't recall seeing anyone post their loads or results. I just started using winchester brass instead of federal and the case capacity is a great deal less in the winny. It seems it would be impossible to hit the 26.5. grain max alliant says I can get to.

I too wanted to use RE15 for the 223. I do not however care for compressed loads, I guess I just should have said I ain't gonna use them. I talked to the Alliant rep at a trapshoot and he said to give RE7 a try. I did and he was right, a very good load.

What load are you using? Of course, we all understand that it is in your rifle, etc. - and that we should work up our own loads as the load books say to...but it is nice to know what someone else is doing that works, just for the sake of intellectual curiosity.

I use it with 80 grain bullets

I use it there because it gave me the best groups.

I shoot other powders with 69's and 52's because other powders gave me better groups.

Here's some data from other websites:

Look for the 'Reloading Stuph' hyperlink in the upper left of this site:

This guy builds great uppers, and knows what makes them shoot, including RL-15 with 69 and 75gr bullets:

I use 24.0gr RL15 for Nosler 77s in LC brass and 24.0gr RL15 for Sierra 80s in Lapua brass. No compression.

How are you getting no compression?? I have 25.6 grains in commercial winny brass and a 60 grain vmax and its pretty compressed.
