Rock River Arms AR-15

I shot a RRA LEO/Govt version a month or two ago and it was really well built. I saw some at a local gunshow today and observed that the fit and finish were excellent. I thought it may even be better than my Bushmaster.

Any thoughts on Rock River Arms rifles?

They are excellent rifles. If they used 4150 barrel steel and chrome lined bores like Bushmaster I would buy one.

RRA uses 4140 steel for the barrel - as do most other AR makers. The 4150 used by Bushmaster and Colt is specified by the military because it remains slightly stronger under high heat. I had a metallurgist explain it all to me once but I can't say that it all soaked in as well as I'd have liked.

His brief summary was basically that if you weren't doing mag dumps, or frequently firing a heavy schedule all day long (i.e. Gunsite, Thunder Ranch, etc.), you probably wouldn't notice the difference.

I think thats where you see the biggest price gap from.. That's an expensive process to do correctly.
