I am in the process of buying lower receivers like a badger hoarding food for the coming winter of January 2009.:D After the elections I was able to snag some Rock River stripped lowers and ordered more in .223 and 9mm (which I'm not sure if these are in production now).

Now 4 months later, I am still waiting. I've been able to snag a few at gun shows and have switched to buying STAG, Sun Devil and CMT (well, just one of those) lowers but continue to wait for my RRA.

Are they way behind and playing catch up? Is this only a regional problem and RRA is concentrating on bigger markets? What's the dealie-o, bro?

My understanding was an order with the DEA. But then again, I bought mine LONG before the DEA contract, and it still took weeks to get. Maybe they fill the orders of dealers first, then direct sales? There is a guy on ar15.com that stocks them at a great price. Check with him.
OTOH, even if another bill is passed, won't the rifle have to be built into a rifle by the mfgr. before the next AWB? That is if the rules are the same as the last game we had to play.........
Then again with Hillary and company in charge in a few years, I bet they either become reg. and taxed like a sawed off shotgun or AOW, or outlawed all together, or maybe classed like a machinegun where they have to be registered.

Scott, thanks I'll check with the ar15 guy. AR15 gives me such a headache to read. Do you happen to recall his name?

Build them up? Why yes I build them the exact day I buy them.:D

As to future legislation that is coming shortly, yes, I fully expect that the antis will attempt to move more stuff over to Title II and then confiscate it a la Boston T. Party's Molon Labe scenario. However, I have a duty to get ready and have my nephews ready.:)

Not sure if he has lower in stock or not, give him a call.
As far as built on date, I remember something that it had to be documented by the factory to be considered a pre-ban rifle. Not sure how you would have physical proof it was a built receiver before the date.

Has RRA got a DoD contract? I suspect that any AR manufacture doing business with the military has its hands full building guns to ship to Iraq right about now.

Scott, thanks much! That's THR-like prompt service.:)

To answer your question, I would imagine either affidavit and/or photograph of rifle with newspaper or show it to buddies (so they could testify) would help if you are worried about compliance.

LB, don't know. Have not heard anything. I'm not always tuned in as I should be but try to keep up on the industry and have not heard anything about RRA and DoD.

From his website, that's a decent price on 6721s and 6920s!

RRA has always done a lot of business with the government--I've always had the impression that this was the company's primary source of income, and that building consumer guns was just a sideline.

I got this impression from their original website, which had almost nothing but military and LE guns, and just a bit about civilian ARs.

These guys really made their gunsmithing name with pistols, they still make an excellent bullseye .45.

Between 1981 and 1991 the Larsons worked at Springfield Armory, Inc., where Mark was the head armorer. From Springfield Armory, the Larsons went into partnership with Les Baer to form Les Baer Custom, and produced some of the finest custom 1911 style pistols that have ever been seen on the US market. Parting ways with Les Baer in 1993, the Larsons began to build AR-15 type rifles for Eagle Arms in Coal Valley, Illinois. At around the same time, they began their own venture, Tolerance Plus (the name was later changed to Rock River Arms), producing custom 1911 pistols.

I ordered a midlength A4 upper w/SS barrel from LegalTransfers late Monday afternoon, and got a note in the mail that they tried to deliver it today. It was $463 shipped with insurance, which is the best price I could find. The upper with the SS barrel is backordered everywhere else that I checked except Adco. For comparison, the price of my upper at Adco is $475 w/$4 flat rate shipping. It does seem like it's much faster (and cheaper) to order RRA stuff from a dealer than direct.
