Was going to post this earlier but the grand kids and dogs eat a bunch of my time.
So wife and I had to go to the juvenile and domestic relations court this AM to get a certified copy of the custody decree so the 5 y/o can start kindergarten in sept.
We disarm in the truck, guns, knives, OC, flashlight, cell phones lock them up, set the alarm.
All I got is my wallet, keys an Cane. (homemade oak)

Young deputy being trained by an older deputy (known to me), wife flies through no problem.

Me, I always beep, Big buckle, plate in my neck, Young Dep wands me wants to see behind the buckle, When the old dep says,
" Son, he is carrying a 3 foot piece of oak and your worried about what is behind his buckle?"

We move on and I can here the start of the ADA, and do you know who that was lecture.

Warmed my heart.

BD,
My life is spent significantly with my grandkids (6) and dogs (3). Great story. Thanks for posting it. Young folks have no idea how great their lives will become as they get older...

I spent most of this week at the county courthouse on jury duty. Every day, walked in through the front door with my blackthorn cane - never a blink, except for one deputy who asked if it was real blackthorn and where I'd gotten it.

Scariest thing that happened at the court was the time I stood up from the jury box and my ankle locked up. Almost fell over on the bailiff. :D Glad I had the stick.
