I am going boar hunting in October. these are the rifles I have available, Remington PSS in .308, M1A and M1A Scout both in .308, SKS, also have various 12 ga shotguns, M1, M3, Rem 870, Moss 590. I can put decent glass on any of the rifles or an Aimpoint ML3. What should I use?? I am leaning towards the Scout with an Aimpoint. Alright lets hear what you have to say.........:)

Hunting method?

If you're still hunting, walking around and tracking them, take something with good glass and capable of killing deer sized game out to 100 yards. Four to six power glass will be plenty.

If you're hunting from a stand or over bait, I'd go with the same caliber/power specs, but opt for iron sights. Finding a dark colored hog in the woods in a scope at close range can be frustrating, especially if you close one eye like a lot of folks do.

Just my limited experience/opinion.

Of the rifles listed the SKS will do just fine. The main reason for picking the SKS is due to the 7.62x39 being close to the ballistics of a 30/30 which is a great rifle for hogs. I am guessing your shots will be taken either from a stand or on the ground in brush where the shots are going to be short distance. Hogs are not hard to kill with good shot placement.
