Roscoe Barrels in Stainless vs Carbon Steel (Purebred vs Bloodline Product Line)

I'm leaning towards a Roscoe barrel for my latest upper. However, I don't know if the Purebred line in stainless would be more appropriate than the Bloodline product line. I believe the Bloodline barrels are nitrided, while the Purebred are 416R stainless. It's an upper/rifle loosely based on the URG-I, except I'm using a 16" barrel to remove NFA issues. I'm after a little better accuracy over my PSA 16" nitrided upper, and plan to run 69-77 grain bullets from the new barrel. I shoot fairly frequently but don't tend to run a high round count per session, often running less than 30 rounds per trip through any given rifle. Given the relatively low volume, would a stainless barrel suffer from a lack of durability? My research leads me to think stainless barrels are generally more accurate, but will have a reduced round count before accuracy degrades enough to warrant a new barrel. I'd say I generally run about 1,000 rifle rounds per year, but that includes 308, 30-30, and 223. I also generally run my hand loads to 223 specs, albeit at the upper limit of those specs.

Good question! I have been debating about getting a stainless upper. I do shoot a lot of rounds in an outing. Thanks for your post. 👍
I have a PA-10 in 308 Winchester with a stainless barrel but even with hand loading, I couldn't afford to shoot out that barrel. I think I'd overall be better served with a nitrided barrel, but the stainless 308 Winchester barrel shoots beyond my expectations. I also get good accuracy from my PSA nitrided 16" barrel, so a new upper would have to really shoot well to beat it.

My Victory 22 and Ruger 10/22 are both stainless, and both shoot pretty dang well. The Victory better shoot well. That barrel is bigger around than my thumb. The 10/22 is picky, but not objectionably so. I see on Roscoe's website they say their Bloodline 16" barrel was inspired/intended for the URGI concept. It think the real ones are phosphate coated and chrome lined, but I'm after a concept, not a copy. I prefer a mid-length gas system, which is available in both product lines.
