Hi,
I recently purchased a Rossi 12 Gauge shotgun combo to use as a shooter. I attempted to fire Winchester 2 3/4 shells. While the shotgun fired with no issues, it would not eject the spent shells. It will, however, eject unfired shells. Is there any particular shells I should use with this shotgun that don't expand very much inside the chamber after being fired, or is this an issue with the shotgun itself? I also tried to wipe off all residual oil that came on the gun, but this did not fix the problem. Thanks for your help.

Take a close look at the chamber in your Rossi. There may be machining marks or some other source of roughness that prevent the spent shell from ejecting. I've polished the chambers on cheap Stoeger doubles using wet/dry 600 grit sandpaper. Split the end of a 1/2 inch dowel and insert the sandpaper. Put the shotgun in a vise. Chuck the dowel in a power drill. Polish. Repeat as necessary. You could also try some different brands of shells. Winchester Double AA's are very smooth and eject better than the cheap box store stuff.

You do not say WHICH Winchester ammo you used - their Universals and Super Speeds are promo trash and have steel bases which can expand and stick in chambers that are roughly finished or have minute burrs. The solution is to use a dowel wrapped with 0000 steel wool, some oil and a cordless drill to run it back and forth.

Your gun should not be ejecting unfired rounds - it should elevate them for easy removal, but not eject them clear of the gun
