Peoples Republic of New Jersey...no more
I have a short period of time before my wife's New Jersey handgun purchase permit expires. Once it expires, she or I will have to go through the whole approval process again.

We currently own the following:

1. Sig Sauer, P228, pistol, 9mm

2. Ruger, GP-100, revolver, .327 magnum

3. Beretta, NEOS, pistol, .22 cal.

4. Glock, M19, pistol, 9mm

She (I) has her eye on a Sig P238, although it's virtually impossible to get a CCW permit in this state. (Would like to eventually move to a more sane - and lower tax - locale, like Pennsylvania.)

I'm interested to hear suggestions from the field. I'm not wed to the idea of a P238 or a .380 (yeah, I know, "no stopping power").

I would buy a pocket gun in 9mm, since your other auto's are 9mm.
Look at a Kahr PM9; it can be carried everywhere, great trigger and is a quality piece.

PR, I think you've got some carry options in your collection right now. The real question might be how you are utilizing your current collection. Is your wife confined to the Neos? Are there several or one that you/she gravitate toward presently? Are you looking for the basics as others define them?

Some feel a true pressure to have the classics; a .22, .357, 9mm, .45, shotgun and 30-06. Others have a hard time managing what they have already collected. A short list might look like this:
Ruger Mk II (or Mk III) in .22lr
S&W 686 6" .357Mag
Beretta 92FS/Browning High Power in 9mm
Colt Series 70 (or reissue 70) in .45ACP
Remington 870 12ga
Remington 700/Winchester Model 70 in .308 or 30-06

Those I don't own are on my personal short list but won't necessarily be your cup of tea.
If you're both looking for a new direction in a budding family hobby I would suggest buying a pair of 1911s and reloading equipment. While my wife is now enjoying shooting with me she has no interest in loading or carrying. We do have a set (3) of S&W M&Ps which allow us to make range time a bit competitive. Another suggestion would be to trade out of anything you've outgrown and consider accuracy (thus the 1911s) as the primary goal, perhaps with custom or semi-custom pistols.

Whatever you decide, be it expansion, contraction or modification, make a plan together so that money is well spent and within budget. Sometimes a time limit makes for unwise decisions and a safe full of unused guns.

Sorry about the rambling, perhaps it emphasizes the dilema a bit. Good luck and stay safe.
