I purchased a Rock River Arms complete upper from a dealer on Auction Arms. The upper seems fine, but I can find no markings to indicate that it is actually a RRA complete flattop upper. I checked RRA's web site and I can't see any markings on their uppers or bolt carriers to substantiate they are the maker. Do they have any such markings?

I have no reason to believe I have been snookered. The dealer was reputable based on his rating and the product does appear to be exactly as described. I would just like to be able to verify my purchase.

I got a 16" RRA upper from adcofirearms.com a while back, and it doesn't have any markings, neither have the few complete RRAs I've handled at the store (of course, I'm only referring to the upper).

No, you won't find any markings on a RRA built upper to be any different than if you just bought the upper rec. from RRA and parts from all over.

Pull the handguards and look for RRAs markings, you'll at least know where the barrel came from. Handguards are handguard, and the bolt carriers are not marked at all as far as I know.

Well I put a bushmaster barrel on mine, but I believe my flat top upper has the "keyhole" marking. Can't check it right now since I'm 80 miles from it unfortunately...

No markings on my RRA 9mm flat top upper.

Although I can't get the hanguards off to look under them, I did discover that I didn't clean the rifle after I last used it.

The Keyhole marking identifies the company that forged the part, but that same company probably forges upper receivers for a number of different companies.

It's common to have multiple companies involved, there is the company that does the forging, then another company does the machining, then another does the anodizing, then the name brand company assembles the parts, as an example Continental Machine and Tool does the machining for Rock River's lower receivers, but another company made the forging that CMT machined.

RRA puts a gunsmith's mark on the barrel under the handguards just behind the gasblock, I called them and asked after recieving my first one from ADCO who is an authorized dealer. its a small stamped mark. If you call RRA they will tell you where to look and what the stamp marks are and which gunsmith assembled your firearm upper.
