i picked up a nearly new ruger all weather 22 mag 77/22.it has a laminated stock and a heavy bull barrel.the guy threw in a tasco 3-9x scope too.i gave 380 bucks, did i get good buy?i like my m77 in 223 and figured a 22 mag would be a nice addition to my collection.i dont reload my brass and there are times when i need something a bit smaller than the 223 yet more than 22 l.r.(around farm buildings)22 mag seems to fit the bill.anybody have one?accuracy or tips on these? thanks.

I think you did good.

I had one and found it to be a really accurate( as well as attractive) rig.

I sold mine with a Tasco scope for $350.00, but I was more interested in getting mine sold to fund other projects. I just didn't have a need for the 22 mag.

Ruger will send you a owner's manual for free, if you ask.

I was somewhat surprised to read in my .22 VBZ manual that Ruger specifically warns NOT to try glass bedding or otherwise changing the bedding on the rifle.

For absolute top accuracy, I'd recommend buying a sear kit rom Brownell's. This improves the trigger pull for better let-off.

I also drilled and tapped the front of the receiver's trigger assembly "leg", and installed a set screw as a trigger stop.

In any event, my .22LR was VERY accurate.

For smoother bolt lift, grease the bolt and cocking piece assembly.

it came in the box with all the stuff.the owner just purchased it new and ran into money problems.thats when i got it.shot it this afternoon, very pleased.shot 2 groundhogs already.found some winchester hollowpoints at wallys for 675 a box.thanks for all the help.
