I would be disappointed with a new pistol that shoots 2” low at 15 yards regardless of the ammo used. Looks like it had ftf problems, too. I like the concept but I’m not impressed based on the review.

Ruger seems to love light recoil springs in the 9mm guns. My Commander had an 11# spring from the factory. 11 pounds is probably too light for anything other than the mildest loads.

I'm going to assume the Officer has a light spring too. I wonder how that affects reliability when dirty. Something like a Wilson 22# would probably help especially when running hot or full power ammo.

I wonder if these issues go away with a break in period, assuming the gun they tested was new and unfired. I've had a couple of 1911's that didn't function well until after 500 or so rounds. I'm considering picking one up, but the review does raise questions.

If the test sample is a pre-production gun it is possible Ruger used standard 1911 sights on the gun. If that's the case it'll shoot low without a taller rear sight.

With one sample, though not a good start coming out of the gate, but if more reports come out the same, well then.. The FTF started after about 250 rds. With it being the 1st round of a full magazine, I could see maybe what USBP379 is saying about the spring. Or as TomJ says about breaking it in. Time will tell.

I wouldn't make too much of it.

If the gun had reliability issues with JHP or failed to go into battery when clean and lubed it would be something that Ruger needs to address.

There are a couple of these guns on gunbroker. At the $750 range they should be pretty nice guns.
