Chunky, homely, rugged, reliable, unspectacular trigger, surprisingly accurate.

I recently shot mine and was again surprised at how accurate it was. With the Hogue grips, it looks very good to me. These are a good value, especially if on sale or when rebates are being given. Neither a target gun nor a lightweight compact, but solid and reliable. Comfortable and fun to shoot IMO.

I had one, but I wanted a CCW gun, and I really disliked the trigger, so I got rid of it and bought a Glock 26.
All that Tamara said about it is true. If you like DA/SA triggers and aren't looking to conceal it (or have a hollow wooden leg with a trapdoor), then it is a good gun. Very durable, reliable, and accurate. Affordable, too.

A point of interest: the P90 was originally designed for the 10mm Auto, which in its full-power loading is a much higher pressure and recoil cartridge than the .45 ACP Ruger finally decided to chamber it for.
amazingly strong...the 10mm story is true, from back when the FBI adopted the round as their issue to replace the 9mm
accurate beyond your expectations... the 90, and 97, are the most accurate piostols in ruger's "p" series and will give the sig 220 a run for it's money

I also owned one, until I traded it in on my Colt. They are accurate, have a long but smooth (at least mine did) trigger pull. They are a bit thick and blocky. I mainly wanted a 45acp for carry and thats why I traded mine.

in 1992, I decided that I'd better get me a defense pistol while I still could. So the funds I'd been saving up for a Smith 41 were mobilized, and I wound up with a P90.
I'm sure I don't have Tamara's figure, but I can conceal a P90. I can't do it in summer, but the rest of the year I can carry it on a good belt slide under a polar fleece no problem. I do have to keep in mind when I may need to remove the cover garment, but I get around that. And, to be fair, I can also change guns when the situation just won't permit carrying the Ruger.
That said, I'd say the P90 is the best bargain in a full-size auto out there. And even though the trigger is no raving beauty, I've been amazed at the groups I can shoot one-hand NRA bullseye style at 25 yd...as good as my Gold Cup.
If it is to be your only carry gun, it might not be optimal. But you can adapt, and if your budget limits your choices as mine did then, you can't go wrong.

i have a ruger p90 dc. i have the hogue finger grips on it. it is an older model, made in '92. it has an excellent trigger, both single and double action. the only other modification i made was to install a wolff recoil spring, a 13 pounder. the factory 11 pounder was getting tired and it threw the brass into the next county, a few brass are probably still in orbit. it is very accurate.
i am a big boy, 6'0" and just under 200 pounds. i have a hard time concealing it unless i tote it in a horizontal shoulder holster. even with a couple of offside magazines it carries a bit heavy on the gun side.
i love it and would not part with it, unless i got an incredable deal.

Big, fat, bulbous, chunky, large, bulky, clunky, wide, thick, hefty, portly, rotund... Easy to conceal under a very large, heavy down coat or huge ski jacket... Would probably fit under the front seat of a tractor... would probably fit in a closet... could be carried in a suitcase... would most likely fit in the trunk of a car or the back of a large SUV...
Just kidding. A pretty good gun for the money. Not as svelt as a 1911 or Sig, but it works all the time.
