Ruger LC9 trade in value

I have one of the older LC9’s, too. At the time I bought it they were North of $350 new.

In its day it was pretty cool, but many newer designs have surpassed it to the point where its worth more to me to hang onto than to sell.

It is still a good pistol, but I just don’t carry it much anymore.

Stay safe.
I like the simple single stack mags! reliable and compact. I always carry a extra mag in the other pocket

I bought a 9s when they first came on the market as my first CC. I have purchased a few more compact 9mm pistols since and thought about selling it. I realized when it came down to it,it was the pistol I still choose to CC most frequently. A mag in the pistol and one in my pocket with 135gr Critical Duty is OK by me and worth a lot more than $150.

Sometimes a little more size is the way to go. A little sacrifice maybe but it sure helps in terms of shootability.

Single stack magazine has benefits as well. They are inherently more reliable that a double stack, single feed design. A lot more internal friction in a double stack mag.... which then needs stronger springs to overcome that friction... which then can lead to other problems.

I wouldnt say the LC9 has been surpased at all for a small and light 9mm. People get hung up on capacity too much on these smaller pistols IMO. Those bottleneck 1.5 magazines are extremely difficult to make work annd must be kept very clean with good springs.Single stack mags are much more forgiving in that aspect. Besides... if its an isue you can just carry more magazines. I like doublestacks as much as the next guy but they are not always the best way to go in smaller pistols with lighting fast cycle speeds.

One of the reasons I am such a fan of the Keltec P11 is that it uses S&W 59 magazines. That particular magazine is one of the greatest double stack/sing feed magazines ever designed. Even on the Keltec P11 though it requires stronger magazine springs and good cleaning routines to keep up. Small pistols useing high preasure cartridges are much less forgiving magazine wise than full size duty pistols with slower cycle speeds. Something like a Hammer fired SA/DA duty size pistol can get away with very weak magazine springs compared to a subcompact.
