The last MK III I assembled came to me totally stripped with all the parts in a gallon ziplock bag. I had it back together in about 15 minutes.

I believe Ruger Mark IV is a winner for sure, I have four of them.

I lament the fact that my MKIV Hunter was a bit pricey, and I had to spend another $100+ for a decent trigger.

I couldn't agree more. Spending around $550.00 for the stainless steel version of the Mark IV and then $100.00 plus, in some cases for a "Performance Kit" does not appeal to most folks:

This pistol was one of the first Competition Target versions after all the Commemoratives/w knife were all sold. NOT, returned for the recall, I corrected the issue here.
After I seen and posted about the availability of Ruger Mark IV uppers from Volquartsen, I ordered two of the 5½ Blued Bull barrel versions. Both fit perfectly onto the above pistols grip frame:


This is a "testimony" to how well, and accurately, these pistols have been machined, so uppers fit to lowers without any additional tweaking, once received.

In actuality, the only part of that kit that improves anything is the sear, and that will indeed reduce the trigger pull weight down to around 2½ to 3, measured, pounds.

A pox on the Mk3.

I have 2 MkII pistols now. I couldn't get the Mk3 reassembled for the life of me.

No problems disassembling with the MkIIs I have, or a friend's MkIV and MkI.

Yes, the Mark III versions, having the magazine disconnect parts can be a real PITA to get back together. The good news is, those magazine disconnect parts can be replaced with a "properly made" hammer bushing, not including the poorly made clone of the original "SAM LAM" as sold by the east coast marketeers. With Sam's excellent and very well made bushing installed, the Mark III pistols are as easy to work with as the Mark II pistols are:

This Ruger Mark III has the SAM LAM hammer bushing installed, along with the LCI (loaded chamber indicator) removed and replaced with a filler, and it's now a pleasure to completely disassemble for complete cleaning and then reassembly. No "mag-in, mag-out" malarkey involved. Easy as the Mark II now.

I put the hammer bushing in my MKIII years ago, makes a big difference when cleaning .

I find with the You Tube videos and the manual the MK III is still a pain to reassemble. But if the hammer and hammer strut are in the correct position when installing the mainspring it will go together without too much trouble. After finally installing an LCI filler in mine last night I think it’s time for a magazine disconnect.

A pox on the Mk3.
I have 2 MkII pistols now. I couldn't get the Mk3 reassembled for the life of me.

I had a nice Mk3. I normally don't mind a challenge but I got rid of it. I couldn't believe what a pain in the a$$ that thing was.
