What kind of papers ciggy butt? If so I would be a bit surprized any was left... But then I have never made this type.

In muskets I use common news paper but no glossy adds. The loading mannor is different and the paper becomes a sort of patch.

In this csae you can use the wool felts with lube under the ball, and could use the grease pills over the ball.

Some how I see no good way to ram a grease pill, no matter how you load it..

I used the Zig-Zag orange pack papers and I did load a lubed wool pad over the powder and under the ball. Don't get me wrong, the paper left in the cylinders wasn't all the time and only 1 cylinder per cylinder full after firing.

It's just a minor detail of checking every cylinder hole for this after each cylinder full is fired.

Hey I am just learning from you now in this case.. It was a real question.

You learn fast.. When I began I was alone, and there was no internet to learn from. What took me 30 years might take you 1. And with that you may well try thing like this that I never did.

What a week ago you only had some ambition to shoot BP? And today you have and in a way another shooter of 30 years never has, but can't find a problem with? That is remarkable in my opinion.

I didn't know which type of paper..I know what that paper is as it is too big for my smoking needs at 1 and 1/4 size. I do smoke bacca from a tin marked Drum, and roll every smoke one at a time by hand.

IF you can roll in smaller papers there might be better burning papers. This one yo used is a pretty heavy duty paper, as compared to some others. Top brand it even heavier in my opinion, where JOB is some what thinner and what I use for rollin bacca...

Why I roll is pretty funny if you stop and think it over. back in 99 I decied to quit, and so thinking being sort of naturally lazy I figured if I rolled I would smoke less. Well that part was right, but I still didn't quit. In about 1 year and 3 months it will be a decade I haven't quit! LOL

I read on another forum a solution to burning the paper completely is to mix a 50/50 mix of acetone and black powder and stir. Then take a paint brush and brush this solution onto the entire paper cartridge and let dry. Then just use them as normal and they will completely burn to nothing. I don't think I will try this as it doesn't completely sound necessary.

As for learning I do spend a inordinate amount of time on this computer surfing for answers. I'll write things down as I see them and try to come to my own conclusions from the info I've found. I think the hardest part for me is to actually get at experimenting with the things I've learned. If I have the interest in something then usually I'll find the drive to pursue it till I'm satisfied with the results. Without the internet and these very helpful forums I would be at a great loss and the learning curve would be tremendously bigger.

I hope I don't seem like I'm taking someone's ideas because I just like to pass on anything useful in my own words to others that enjoy the sport. I by no means know it all as there is years and years of information to learn. That's what I enjoy about this sport though, always new experiences around the corner.

I too make my own smokes with a table top style tube stuffer. I buy the tobacco in 6 oz bags and the tubes are premade paper already on the filters. Just load the tobacco and put a tube on the machine and crank the handle and it stuffs the ciggy.

MAC, There are two schools of tought about lube pills and lubed felt wads.
Gatefeo subscribes to the use of 1/8" felt wads soaked in mixture of Tallow,Beeswax and Parafin. His relations are 200parts.tallow(Crisco),200parts beexwax, and100parts canning parafin. While the mixture is hot and fully mixed he adds his felt wads and mixes them until they are soaked. Removes to cool. He claims that they are always easy to handle. The lube pill is nearly the same formula but without the felt matrix it's final melting point is more criticle to achieve easy handling in hotter weather

Pancho, his recipe is slightly different than you just stated. Here is the recipe that is from his article in his sticky here.

MAKING THE BEST LUBRICANT
Measure out:
Mutton tallow – 200 grams
Canning paraffin – 200 grams
Beeswax – 100 grams

The parrafin and beeswax is the other way around. I just wanted to clarify as it certainly can be confusing. :)
