Ruger P345 why is it not more popular

Sounds like a bad design to me. A good design would anticipate predictable misuse like this. THe problem here is that many of us don't always read gun manuals because they are mostly common sense.

I'd be worried to get one that may have been dry fired in the store and damaged.

Go with a used P90, save some money, and get a better gun. If you don't like the factory ergonomics, put a Hogue on it and you're done.

When you purchase a gun, even a new one, you have no idea who has dry fired the gun before you purchased it. Or whether or not they did it properly.
A valid point.

While I didn't initially warm up to my P345, it slowly grew on me. After proving it to function reliably with all types of ammo (including some ancient cast lead handloads of highly questionable quality) and finding it highly comfortable and accurate, I now prefer using it to my Glock G30 and 1911.

I consider the 345 to be one of the most under appreciated pistols made. I've owned a couple and they are a great pistol.

If they had offered a DAO version I would have bought one but since it's DA/SA I haven't given them a second look. YMMVV!

I purchased one. I really enjoyed it. I shot the gun far more accurately than most guns I own. I have to agree if they had a dao version I would still own it. I think I've decided im a fan of a consistant trigger. I actually traded it toward a M&P 9. I figure capacity and consistant trigger and I can afford to feed it. I would recommend the P345 it just wasn't foor me.
