Ruger SR22 Iron Sights and Handguard Rail

I'm looking to add a front and rear after market iron sight set up to my Ruger SR22. Would someone explain how I could get the front sight post onto the cylindrical hand guard rail without replacing it entirely? I seem to recall seeing AR type rifles with rails on those types of hand guards for lights or grips. Thanks for your advice in advance.
