Congratulations! That is a good looking piece and the figure in the grips is nicer than usual. Glad you had fun with that first cylinder full. I like the larger calibers, especially with a single action, but shoot more 45s than 44s.

You mentioned starting to handload for it and that's a good idea. Not only will you be able to exploit all the potential of the gun, it will end up being cheaper per round (especially with hard cast bullets). And I enjoy handloading for its own sake. The handloading subforum here has tons of good information and folks who will answer any questions you might have.

Hope you keep having fun.

This was my first time shooting 44 magnum. I absolutely love it! Made me wish I had brought more rounds with me.

Great to hear you finally got it and a nice looking gun it is! I used to own a 5 1/2" blue some years ago. Also have owned a 7 1/2" and 10 1/2".

nice wheel gun, g29. when you get a chance, you may want to get a BELT MOUNTAIN base pin for it. tightens up things and helps keep the base pin from walking out the front of the frame. with freight, about $35. beltmountain.com

Second that Belt Mountain base pin - I put in mine several years ago & it made a big difference in not having the pin back out every other round (even with a stronger spring in the original). I did put a shallow divot in the barrel for the set screw but it's not absolutely necessary. I would add that anytime you're drilling on a barrel, whether making a divot or drilling a hole, be sure to use a drill press and secure the barrel as you will mess it up otherwise (don't ask, I won't tell  ).

I have this:

Well, I have an older model.. With the wood grips. But it's the same .357 / 9mm package..

So, I'm gonna but this to keep it company..
