While searching for popular forums for another thread, I came across a Russian Reloading Forum www.guns.ru - (Here's translated page link) http://translate.google.com/transla...refox-a&hs=dF7&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official

Intrigued, I hit the "Google Translate" and was pleasantly surprised to find our Russian counterparts discussing similar topics often using USA equipment/components shipped to Russia! And you thought we have it hard getting our reloading equipment/components? :D

Some of the comments are amusing and I found reading the threads entertaining even with roughness of Google Translate.

Some of the posters are quite serious about reloading and obtaining accuracy as indicated in this "improved forum" from guns.ru - https://reloading.cc/forum/forum.php

Read some of the threads and give us your feedback.

I'll have a look at it when I get home, I'm on my mobile phone right now.

Nonetheless, I don't know a single reloader over here that doesn't use American equipment. Usually, the discussion is Lee vs Dillon, 9 vs. 40, or whether .308 is powerful enough to knock down a hog, among others, but generally speaking, discussions are pretty similar. Difference is that we don't have access to the wide array of components you have over there.

I guess we reloaders speak the same language regardless of where in the world we are located ;-)

GaryL, the links are Russian translated page of Wikipedia and paraphrased/redacted article of "Accuracy Velocity" originally posted on The California Varmint Callers Association - http://www.californiavarmintcallers.com/accuracy.htm
Analysis of the data revealed a very interesting and useful phenomena that we had not been expecting ... as velocity was increased from a 2800 fps arbitrary starting velocity the group sizes for all loadings became smaller until a point of group size convergence was reached (convergence as defined here is where the group size becomes smallest). As velocity was further increased from this point there was again an increase in group size but ultimately to a lesser degree of dispersion than that seen at the lower velocities.

Reading through the threads almost reminded me of various USA gun forum threads. Who would have thought we had Russian fans/supporters of USA products and writings? :D

I guess when dealing with equipment/components that go BANG in your hands close to your face, quality of equipment/components matter and after checking various match shooting/hunting forums around the world, it is pretty universal that majority of equipment/components used are USA made (with some small exceptions).

Well, this was a pleasant surprise indeed and I am sure that many USA companies and their employees/families appreciate firearms/reloading/hunting enthusiasts around the world providing historical production/revenue increase for the USA economy!

Even for countries with restrictive gun control laws, shooting sports like IPSC and hunting allows ownership of firearms and just like us, reloading will allow them to shoot for less or shoot more.

I am sure the excitement of shooting your first reloaded rounds is the same whether you speak English or Russian.

Yeah, knew that (the translated pages), but had never seen the CA Varminter's page before. I went off in search of it and just got back here after finding it, and see that if I had waited a few minutes.... :)

Me too, and I live in California. :D That's OK, many California shooters don't know about The Los Angeles Silhouette Club website that's a tremendous wealth of information, especially for shooting lead bullets.

On the CVC articles page, the article is described as:
Barrel vibrations & accuracy. Make your varmint rifle a one holer.

All rifles are subject to the laws of physics. Knowing and understanding a rifles behavior can help you achieve the maximum accuracy potential of your rifle.
Thanks to the internet, it's interesting to note a relatively obscure webpage in California being used as a reference source for a forum in Russia for accuracy.

Thanks for the find, bds. One more - hopefully the decisive - little kick I need to finally figure out how to switch to Russian language on my laptop and also refresh by language skills, long dormant and under-used (one zillion years of study and quite a bit of time in the USSR/former USSR). I've been looking for original equivalents of our Army Tech Manuals for the Mosin for a while, and only find translations of general manuals that do not help with things like troubleshooting the interrupter for rim-lock problems, etc.
