Hello and good evening everybody.

My Dad has an inline muzzloader that I use and when I picked it up the other day , noticed it was not cleaned since the last time it was used last season.

Dad thought he cleaned it before he put it away , he usually does , even though I offer to do it .

Needless to say it has rust in the barrel and i would like to get it cleaned out before the season in a month.

He was surprised he forgot to take care of it at the end of the season .

Have seen some people have used evapo rust with good sucess .

What would you use and your process be ?

Thanks for your help

Evaporate works well, but will take off any bluing on the outside of a barrel as well.
But I have used it and then refinished the outside. Assuming you can take out the breech plug i would start with brushes and your favorite solvent

the breech plug is out and I have used Thmopsons #13 and some of the rust is gone .

There is no blueing on the outside of the barrel it has a camo finish .

I do have #9 maybe that will be woth a try also .

Open to suggestions as the internal breech plug threads have some rust on them also .
