?s for Bersa .380 CC owners, please.

Hi,

I'm back to my favorite firearms forum. Haven't been here for a while but I always return to the firearms forum that has the most knowledgeable members... which is right here.

Anyway, to avoid confusion, I need to know a little about the Bersa .380 CC. This is the one with the 3.2" barrel and an overall lenght of 6".

(Bersa has another they call the "Concealed Carry model, but it has a 3.5" barrel and on overall length of 6.5". This is not the one I need to know about).

Anyway, I keep reading there were problems in the first runs of this gun. Has Bersa cleared them up?

How does it compare to some of the other small .380s?

Finally, what is a reasonable price for this pistol?

I had the Bersa 380 CC once. I also have the Bersa 380 Thunder. The Thunder was a joy and had little recoil. So I thought the smaller and thinner CC would shoot as "softly" as the Thunder. I was wrong! That thing was snappy and very painful to shoot. As a carry, I had to practice with it regularly. Though it was impecably reliable, it was too paiful to shoot. The Ruger LCP, where many have complained of its "snapiness", was actually more pleasnat to shoot compared to the CC. The CC is a great gun, but if you can find one that you could practice with, it would be better before purchasing one.

Have you considered the LCP?

I have one. Keep it close by on the first floor in the house. It is pocketable. I find it to be pretty snappy also, which results in me never taking it to the range. It's no fun to shoot. But it serves the purpose that I bought it for. A gun that can be put into a pocket.

If I start to carry in the house (or outside the house if that becomes an option in Maryland) I'll carry my Ruger SR9c. Ten rounds of 9mm with the short mag and 17 with the larger one. And it's light weight. See below:

Both the Sig P238 and the Kahr P380 actually have less felt recoil, to me, despite being significantly smaller.

As well, there are some issues with the trigger return spring in the Bersa Thunder series guns; mine had to be shipped out for warranty after failing completely in a handgun class (better to find out there, of course). This problem is well-documented online.

Ultimately these days, there are better and smaller .380s out there, and 9mms in the same size range.

As well, options like the LCP are close enough in price to limit the Bersa to its fans.

I sure wouldn't pick one as my main CCW. That said, I still have a Bersa that I like to shoot for fun on occasion; I just prefer to rely on other guns for anything besides casual plinking.

you simply cant beat the Bersa .380acps for quality, easy of use, and price.

I bought the thunder. 380 on advice of a longtime gunsmith friend, It is a fantastic pistol regardless of price. I was so impressed with the ease of handling and reliability, I went back the very next week and bought a twin to it in. 22lr. Both guns are 100% jam free. I dont see how any pistol could be any "better". Just maby more expensive. (newer / more costly sometimes doesnt equal better).

^^^Just be sure to run it hard to see if it takes a dump on you before you trust your life to it. JMO. Obviously, this applies to any gun.

Ive put about 400 in the. 380 most of it white box and russian steel. And about 2 bricks of every. 22 I have in my safe in the other, I mixed rounds in the same mag, fired at every angle and generaly tried my best to jam them. I didnt trust the price and maker either. All I can say is they are solid pistols and they earned my praise of them. My little keltec 380 jammed, so I traded it for the ruger, It was better but didnt want to feed the last 3 rounds. Ill just stick with the bersa from now on.

My daughter has a 380 thunder and it has been reliable as you could hope for. I also have a taurus 738 tcp that is a great little pistol. Heck I have never had a junk firearm. Start off feeding what ever you buy a quality ammo and after you get a couple hundred rounds fired then find what ammo you want to use for defence.

Just as a side note, Gun tests magazine ranked bersa firestorm 1st in class. The firestorm is mechanicaly identical to the thunder pistol.

Yeah, I had a Bersa 380 CC. I loved the thing, sure it was a little snappy but it was accurate for such a short barrel, a darn sight better than the TCP I replaced it with:banghead: One word of warning, when cleaning and the slide is removed, do not under any circumstances pull the trigger. This will snap the "C" clip that connects the transfer bar to the hammer if I recall correctly. Found out the hard way Other than that I found that little guy to be just great.
