I would suggest the standard pressure 110 grain Winchester SilverTip JHP's as a self defense round in an Airweight Smith snubby~!
This round isn't too violent on its aluminum alloy frame.

This round isn't too violent on its aluminum alloy frame.Hrm. My dad has one of those, except it's a 4" barrel. For him I'd recommend standard pressure 158gr LSWCHP, but for 2" the answer might be different.
I don't know who's making standard pressure .38 Special ammuntion with lighter bullets and standard pressure. I haven't shopped around.
Both Remington and Winchester make a 110gr JHP .38, but I can't tell if either of them is loaded to +P pressure or not. Others will come along with recommendations.

I appreciate the replies and welcome, it seems as if there is next to nothing available in standard P for this model in JHP.
Corbon recommends their Silver Safety Slug and other than the 110 gr Winchester JHP I havn't been very sucessful in finding anything else, so far.

meets SAAMI spec. Which would be standard ammo purchased
at a local dealer for .38 S&W Special"

The Federal Nyclad hollow-point round (soft lead bullet, good big hollow point, coated in blue nylon) is an excellent choice for non-+P .38 Special ammo. Unfortunately, the 158gr. load isn't available any more, but Ammoman still has stocks of the 125gr., which is a good second choice. See here for details and click on ".38 Special" in the top menu bar. The Nyclad is at the bottom of the latter page - scroll down until you see it.
