S&w 3904

I stopped by my dads today and he showed me his new to him gun. It is s S&W 3904 single stack 9mm that he picked up from one of his friends. He asked me about it and I am dumb founded on it. I am familar with the 5906, but I dont know much about a 3904 other than what he showed me. He paid 350 for it with three mags. That seemed a little on the high end given the condition of the gun, but my dad also would have most likely just given him the money if he had asked. I am just looking for insight on what he should expect from it.

Its the 3rd generation of the original 39 with all of the improvements found on the 5906 except that its single stack, has a blued carbon steel slide and an aluminum alloy frame instead of stainless steel. The price seems ok. Frame life on the alloy frame might be the only thing to worry about but it would still hold up to over 20,000 rds. Did the previous owner shoot much?

The 3904 is probably my favorite pistol (among many). They were only made from 1988-91. I am fortunate to own a 3906 as well.

Your father will be very pleased with that pistol.
