Well, I stopped by the local shop again and there it was waiting in the case for me... I have been in the market for a no-lock 642 for several months now and couldn't seem to lay my hands on one. Then comes along the 442 Pro model that is cut for moon clips, has the blackened stainless barrel and cylinder, and no dreaded lock. I couldn't fill out the 4473 fast enough!

It came with 3 moon clips. Of course that isn't enough so I am looking to buy extras. TK is the only company I can find that makes J-frame moon clips, and they are a little pricey. Is there anybody else that makes 38 special J-frame moon clips?

Also, after firing 3 cylinders, the front locking bolt pin fell out. I made a 2 minute phone call to Smith and Wesson they are sending another. This is my first "modern" Smith and Wesson. Now I understand why there is so much demand for the classics.

After some research it seems like TK has pantented the design and owns the intellectual rights to them and they are the sole provider. I have been wondering about which tool to get, so far loading by hand wasn't terrible though.

Anybody have a preferred way to carry spares for concealed carry?

They make belt cases that look a lot like cellphone cases. I'm jonesing for a 642 myself, but would absolutely love a 442. Gotta resist the urge, I have tools I need to buy first.

Yes, you can fire the Pro series with or without moonclips. The rims of the cases headspace off of the edge of the cylinder weather there is a moonclip present or not.
