Hello,

I have a pretty newly bought S&W .460 4" barrel and after about 20 shots or so I noticed that the compensator gets very loose to the point where it can fall right off the gun.

I can easily tighten it with the tool provided with the gun but after 20 more shots it just gets loose again.

Has anyone had any issues like this with their gun or know what could be causing this to happen?

Thanks

Had that problem, when I bought the gun (500 magnum) new. Notice it.
It’s a breaking in period? Or, I just, not tighten it enough? A lot of pressure coming out of the 460/500 magnums.
While cleaning the revolver. I took the set screw out and cleaned the inside of the threads (and set screw itself) with Hoppes #9, followed by a drop of oil inside the treads and set screw. Gave it a GOOD tighten. Next time I shot it, it was fine. Even, when changing comps during shooting (changing comps out-jacketed/lead).

Never had that problem with any of my 460 Mags or 500 Mags, but when did they start making a 4 inch 460 Mag? I see a 2 3/4 inch and a 5, 6, 71/2 and 8 3/8 and a few others, but no 4 inch 460 Mg. But there is a 4 inch 500 Mag.
