S&W M&P .22: takedown lever In, but slide lifts from frame.

Bought brand-new. After about 1,500 rds. of tight functioning, this was the first time, and it keeps happening. Slide fully aft, then lifts from frame.

As during several previous reassemblies, the takedown lever is inserted exactly the same way (seen all over YouTube) then rotated to the horizontal position.

Otherwise the function is normal, except for a few more times when a round won't strip from the mag. No surprise.
I'll call the S&W number when they re-open Jan 3rd and maybe there will be a "technician" prompt. They will probably have me ship it to the factory.

Update: when the takedown lever is first rotated into the vertical position (gun has Not Yet been disassembled), the slide firmly remains on the frame, and can Not be lifted when the slide is fully aft.

***Only with This lever position (vertical) will the slide remain securely on the frame when the slide is pulled fully aft.***
