This is on gun broker right now.. Not an 8 in but a little over 6 in.. Description --- Smith and Wesson Model 25-3 .45 acp; S/N: 5159; 6 ½-inch barrel; TH, TT and smooth TS. Deep blue finish is excellent - estimated at 98-99%. Stocks are near-perfect; pinned barrel; red-ramp front and white-outline rear sights. Gun comes in a locking (with key) factory mahogany presentation case with a copy of the book ‘125 Years with Smith and Wesson’. Special metal-cornered gun box with all papers, including warranty card and brown wax wrap is provided. Gun is unfired except for factory test. Barely visible cylinder ring. This gun looks brand new, is extremely clean and in collectible condition .. Should I leave this for someone that wants to put it in a safe or should I give it a shot??? Can Anyone give me a reasonable limit to stop At.?? Thanks for your help...

One for sale in case, nice, all

accoutrements at Scheels All Sports in Eastern Iowa for $699 I believe. It appears to be in new condition but I do not know this for sure.

I should add that I believe Scheels prices might be called "fair" they are probably a little high compared to a legitimate Gun Show dealer or small shop dealer who is willing to work on a closer margin. Scheels is chain of about 22 general sporting goods stores from Montana to the Midwest.

I have been checking the price of these on the internet because I wasn thinking I wanted the Model 25 that is in the 2008 in their Classics line. I see this commemorative for sale quite a bit so check Guns America, etc. and see what is being asked. These are not that uncommon. I thought about buying one for a shooter.

I actually passed one in late 1997 for $300! A local shop had one for $900 last year.

Model 25-3 .45 acp

Best call for a caliber check.
Such references as I have show the M25-3 commemorative as being in .45 Long Colt.
It is an oddball gun with the short .45 ACP/AR cylinder chambered in .45 Colt. It will handle factory loads but nothing much longer OAL.

If it has a cylinder ring from being dryfired or spun, even though not fired (How do you PROVE that?) it is not in "collectable condition" for a commemorative.
