Can anyone provide me with some info on this model or point me in the right direction to do some research? It's a blued S & W Model 29-4 DX in .44 mag with an 8.375" barrel w/full underlug, unfluted cylinder and wooden hogue monogrips are on it.

Any help would be appreciated!

I tried to register there yesterday but I haven't received any of my log in info yet. A friend told me it may take a few days for a new member to be able to log in (why???). Thanks for the suggestion though!

The 629 Classics that shot the best were sent to the Performance Center for a little action work, an interchangable front sight, and stamped DX.

Gator,

Thanks for the info. Much appreciated. Does this go for the model 29 as well as the model 629? Is stainless steel the only difference between the two or were there other different features involved?

Thanks again!

You are very welcome.

Yes, it goes for 29s as well. I just have 629s on the brain.....I'm picking one up tomorrow :)

The Hogue wood grips were a DX extra also, and the DXs sold for about $200 more than the Classics. I've never owned one, but I'd like to!

The DX models were factory-selected for accuracy; they came with factory-fired targets and guaranteed something like a 1" group at 25 yards with the proper ammo. I had the 629 8 3/8" version, and it was as accurate as they claimed, as well as a beautiful piece of machinery in every respect.

I wouldn't trade my 629 cl dx 8.375" for nothing. It has a 2x6 Bushnell Trophy scope and has taken the three deer that have been shot at with no problems. Pretty fun to use in IHMSA also!!!
