Hey guys I have a guy trying to sell a revolver he just inherited from a friend that passed. It is a S&W model 30. It is in the original box with all the paperwork including cleaning brush. It is in .32 cal. This thing is in near mint condition. I would guess it to be in 99%. The only mark on it is a very faint drag line on the cylinder. You can barely even see the line. It has the original grips in perfect condition. The box is stamped with April 15, 1955. He wants $400.00 for it. I cant find one on GB to check the going rates but I think this would be a steal! It is a perfect little j-frame. Anybody have one or know of the going prices for one of these? It is just too purty to pass up. Thanks, Shawn.

What you have is a .32 Hand Ejector (it wasn't designated the Model 30 until after 1958). It was mfg from 1908-1976, caliber .32 S&W Long, 6 shot, 2,3,4, or 6 inch barrel, blue or nickel, fixed sights, walnut or rubber grips. My old Blue Book has a 100% gun at $275, so $400 sounds about right.

I have three of these J-frame .32s and they are great little guns. If you buy it you should know that it will fire .32 ACP ammo just fine. Factory .32 Long is a bit expensive, but .32 auto is reasonable.

In truth, I think $400 is a bit much for this gun, even in the condition that you describe. These .32s don't have the collector following of the larger caliber guns.

I'm thinking that's a bit high, $350 would be my top price based on what I see around here. For $400 it really should be ANIB with a prefect box, and everything in the box.

S&W model 30

There was a S&W model 30 listed on Gunbroker on 06/16/07 and the photo showed it with a retail price tag of $800. The gun had a brown patina and didn't look like there was any blue left.

From the 2007 Gun Digest book Guns and Prices 2nd ed.

exc 350
VG 250
good 200
fair 150
poor 100

Hope this helps
