Ok, had some time so I took a bunch more pictures of my new S&W-produced Walther PPK/s. The first ones I took and posted in my mini-review the other day just didn't have the right lighting...also, I wanted to show how it came with the ramp polished and the chamber throated out-of-the-box.

This first picture shows that. Note that the ramp, etc, are quite clean - they just look dirty in the picture because the shinier spots are coming up dark (still not perfect lighting). Also note that there are some pretty roughly-finished areas, especially the area in front of the hammer, but they don't seem to be affecting reliability at all. I've fired 200 rounds through it so far, a variety of hollowpoints, flatpoints, and FMJ's, without a single stoppage yet.

Here you can see the interior of the slide, which is very cleanly machined:

The rest of the pictures are just eye candy. Note how most edges are melted slightly by S&W. There still are some sharp edges, but nothing cuts me during firing.

In the following shot, perfectionists can spot two small metal pieces of flash or something that are within the serrations on the safety lever. :p

Nice pics!

So are these now made in Maine? Or are some of the components of the pistol still imported from Walther in Europe?

Beaut of a pistol. Question: Is that a firing pin disconnect safety I see? (top pic)

My understanding is that the firing pin safety is only engaged when the safety lever is in the "safe" position. Thus, making it not a very safe pistol to carry in DA mode with the safety off.

Are you referring to the little lever that's is sticking up? I believe that's the disconnect, so that it can't fire out of battery.

As for where they are made, I've read they are manufactured in Maine, but I'm not sure if all the parts are produced there. I've read that Walther stopped producing the PP line altogether in 2000, so likely they are completely manufactured in Maine.
