Appreciate the heads-up DAdams! I am 4 days away from buying a used 642 with lock and CT for $475, but this brings a new 642 without lock into the $400 range and I can then buy used CT grips for about $100. Dang!

I think they are trying to pump up pistol sales because their latest foray into long guns has been no more successful than previous efforts and they have a lot of costs to eat. They have been doing rebates since last Fall.

Looks like I'll be buying that 317 kit gun and that 638 a lot sooner than I thought. Well, at least the 317.

They have a list of exclusions for their two revolver rebates - check the site. For <$500, it's $30... over $500, it's $50. Oh - and that .500 Magnum snubby you want - $75 back. Yeah, I bought a new 4" 617 a few weeks back. Starts Wed. My luck!

I can confirm this Holiday Sale, which starts 1 October '08~! I spoke
with a S&W factory rep on Friday, 26th Sept, and he said this was
