Can anyone tell me if the hammer in a .455 Webley caliber triple lock would be interchangeable with a standard triple lock hammer? I've got a line on a
.455 for $250 in great shape, but someone years ago bobbed the hammer, which I don't care for. Really just wondering if the different caliber would change the dimensions of the hammer.

You should probably wait for an expert to chime, but I believe that any pre-war N-frame hammer would work with light fitting.

It should work with the usual fitting. I am currently working on a junker .455 Triple lock I got for $75. It was locked up. I took the side plate off and soaked it with Marvel Mystery oil for 24 hours. Then I pried in the push rod that pushes in the cylinder release (connected to the button) and finally working it got the end piece under the shroud to pop out. Then taking the crane locking screw out I was able to pound open the cylinder with a plastic hammer. Somebody "reamed' the cylinder to .45 Colt :cuss:and changed the geometry when they trimmed the cylinder face back:banghead: thus jammimg the cylinder and locking up the action.:(I think a new extractor was fitted because the cylinder overall length (To the extractor shoulder from cylnder face) is .001 More than the length of the opening in the frame. Kinda a negative .001 endplay. I took the old style locking rod assembly out of the cylinder crane and everything looks kosher. The push rod does NOT protrude enough thru the star to allow it to unlock however. It looks like I need to machine .004" off the cylinder star shoulder.

A hammer from a .455 Triple Lock should work in an earlier .44 Special version, but I think your best (and less expensive) route would be to use a model 1917 hammer. Because minor changes were made, you might also need a 1917 trigger.
