I am trying to figure out who made my EMF SAA because it needs some parts. I looked at a few things on the internet and came up with little information other than the fact that EMF was importing Pietta and Uberti guns at different times. How can I tell which manufacturer made my revolver? Are there certain stamped marks to look for or other simple visual indicators? Part of the reason is mine came with an adjustable rear sight which is missing that I would very much like to replace, along with a few other bits and pieces, buggered screws etc.

My early-80's EMF "Hartford Model" was made by Armi San Marco (ASM). It's stamped on the underside of the barrel, in small letters, "ASM ITALY * EMF S.A. CAL. *"

I have found that many of the parts will interchange with current Uberti production.

My EMF Hartford U.S. Cavalry Model is the same as AlexanderA's in that it was made by ASM or Armi San Marco, probably made around the same time as his.

Yes, that's what I have -- the Cavalry Model. The original grip was undersized, and didn't fit too well. I replaced it with an Uberti Cavalry Model grip (with the inspector's initials). The Uberti grip was virtually a drop-in fit, and in any case fit much better than the ASM grip. I also replaced the ASM "Swiss safety" type cylinder pin with an Uberti single-notch cylinder pin. Again, no fitting problems. Comparing the other parts, they looked to be be the same as the corresponding Uberti parts.

I also replaced the cylinder pin with one made by Uberti; a little bit of a tight fit but essentially a drop-in part as well.

If your single action was made by ASM you might want to try VTI Gunparts for parts for it. Hope this helps.

Looks like it’s probably a Armi Jager based on some google image comparisons. That really stinks as the parts that I need are absolutely NOT standard spec parts. That particular fully adjustable rear sight was rare even when they were new, and I suspect that s replacement would be as expensive as buying a parts gun. This may become another shelved project gun.

Ace hardware has a good selection of gun screws. If you have one of the screws take it there and they will help find a match. If you do not have a sample depending where you live you maybe able to take the gun with you for a screw that fits. Call and ask first. A lot better prices then ordering through a gun shop on-line.

Yes and no. Their "gun screws" appear to be for scope mounting and other standard applications. (For example, I found them to be a good source for domed filler screws if you don't use a scope base.) For screws specific to particular guns, I'm afraid you won't have much luck there.

I recently e-mailed EMF about an ASM conversion. They carry parts for the ASM guns. Mine was on a 1851 Navy frame. Another place with parts is DeerCreekProducts.net, but they have a lady taking orders that knows little about the parts.EMF was able to tell me some of the gun's history. Give EMF a call, this lady was the most helpful.
