I have a S&W 686-4pp, .357 magnum with Hogue Grips. I was thinking about geting a Safariland Comp 2 speed loader.

I would like to hear from anyone who has used these............

how well do they work
do the Hogue Grips interfere with the speed loader??

IMHO they are the best. I used them for my duty weapon (Security Six). Carried two on the belt and had a couple for range duty/practice. I used the latter hard and they got dropped a lot with and without rounds in them. Never a problem with them and still have them; they have to be over fifteen years old and still work fine. Used to carry them in Safariland "Split Six" single and double carriers for plainclothes use. Still do on occasion.

I liked them much better than the competitive brands as they held the rounds much more firmly, required no jiggling around, and released the rounds crisply and positively. Chamfering the chamber edges slightly helps.

Have used them in K frames and my GP-100 as well.

Interestingly I met the inventor and supplier to Safariland and got to watch his machinery cough out the various parts of these units. About once a week or so a lady would come in and assemble them for shipment.

Can't speak to the grip interference question, but the Comp IIs are great. Slightly trickier to load than HKS, but far superior in every other way. Only thing wrong with your plan, don't just get one!
