I purchased a Sako 75 in .338 win mag about 7 months ago, in anticipation of going to Canada to hunt caribou. After some research, I decided that the Sako Optilock mounts and rings were the best choice for mounting a scope. I ordered both from an internet company.

The company sent the rings, but said that the base was on back-order. After a month, they e-mailed me, saying that they wouldn't be able to get the base. Their website doesn't even list the base for sale anymore.

I have done several internet searchs, talked to Beretta (They own Sako and were very unhelpful), and even tried to have a local shop order them, but none of this has worked.

I know that other companies make rings, but I already have the Sako rings and I would prefer to find the base so I can use them. On to my question...Does anyone know where I can get an extended optilock mount (blued)?

I tried DNR and they are out of stock. They weren't sure when, and if they'd be in stock again.

Did you ever come up with a solution for this? I see that dnrsports has the Sako long mount listed in eBay right now.

Where did you buy the rings?

I have a Sako L61R for which I bought the Leupold rings, but am not satisfied with them. I used a ring alignment and lapping tool to prep the rings, and they don't align well at all. The OptiLock base and rings look like a good solution. Wish I had the original rings for the rifle.

(Yes, I realize the original post is over a year old...)

Fella's;

Just went through this same sorta thing recently with my Tikka. I turned to the Brownell's catalogue & got what I needed. Might take a look at: www.talleyrings.com too.
