Can someone explain the relationship between Beretta, Sako, Tikka? I assume Beretta bought out other manufacturers and kept their names? Are they made in the same factories as Berettas? How does quality compare?

Are Sako and Tikka sort of like Lexus vs. Toyota (both on same chassis, owned by the same company, but with different bells and whistles)?

I ain't the most qualified to answer this ( though I do have a Tikka) but I think the Toyota/Lexus & Sako/Tikka analogy is pretty accurate. Beretta is the parent company, Sakos and Tikkas are built in the same factory in Finland. I believe Berettas are only made in Italy and the states

Sako bought Tikka some years ago and then Beretta bought Sako in 2000. Beretta was lucky to get Sako, they needed a quality rifle division. The last time I checked, Sakos and Tikkas are still made in Finland in the Sako plant.

We proudly carry on the rifle manufacturing knowledge and skills, with the utmost respect towards the surrounding nature. We put our trust to a future that shines bright to all of us. "

Tikka's only have one action length, the mag uses a spacer in the rear to keep the rounds towards the front. Sako has several.

I have heard that tikka's have sako's barrels on them.

In my opinion, I don't own one yet though, Tikka is the best bang for the buck rifle made, Mags are pricey though............Great trigger and 1 moa guarantee.

In my opinion, and I handled them both 10 days ago, the Tikka's action is smoother.

Yes I know, I need a Tikka.
