Alright, here I go again.

Thinking of a full-size .30-06, reading the CZ vs. (etc etc etc) thread got me to thinking about Weatherbys, as well. Both Weatherby and Sako have an "accuracy gurantee".....which got me to thinking--
the other day, I helped reload like 300 .22-250 for a Weatherby a buddy of mine has, because it grouped better than his older Sako, which he says he "can never get to group all that well." Now, considering I'm about to start rolling my own .30-06, I figure it's a moot point if the firearm just isn't as accurate as I've seen some good ol' boltguns be (heck, even I was able to get 1" groups with his weatherby, we didn't try the sako--time constraints). So, between the Weatherby's "accuracy gurantee" and Sako/Tikka's "accuracy" gurantee, which one would y'all say is the best deal for the money? It would be for testing loads, and as a general-purpose accurate hunting rifle to maybe 300 yards with an absolute max of about 500 every now and then (less than once-a-year occurances), and so far as "accurate hunting rifles" go--one of those is missing in my collection, to date, and I need to fix that.

I've found a source to get a Tikka for about $300~$400, Sako for ~$700, Weatherby at normal price (onseies, I'm not telling from where--my little secret, after all ;) ), so given those figures, which would be the best deal for the money?

Tikka, Howa, and Savage are my choices for best accuracy. Choose the one that fits you best, and gives acceptable accuracy for the job. Howa's 4-groove .30 cal barrels are exceptional, IMO.
