A brief review of a Sam1911 knife I got earlier this year :
This 3" and some change blade is wide and has a useful profile for almost all small knife outdoor tasks. First the sheath: I love the Klik Lok clip on 1.5" wide Liger belts I constantly wear. I chose to mount it horizontally as the blade is short enough to be very unobtrusive that way. The retension is super secure and the knife clicks into the sheath just the way I like it.

The blade is wide at over an inch and beefy at 3/16" but flat ground means no "stops" on cut depth. The point is pokey enough to suit me , who likes a point with some poke to it. I have not dress out a deer with this knife but did dress out two large cotton tails and used it for a 4th of july bar b que and cut a lot of tri tip. It was outstanding and the beefy grip does not slip at all and there are no hot spots in the handle (I cut the obligatory 2x4" in half to test it) .One thing about the knives I geet from Sam1911 is that I feel totally secure about forward hand slippage which is much more than I can say for many knives I have had made or bought!

The handle shape and pin tratment is most excellent and the blade grinds are very good , this knife exudes beef for the size. Here it is next to Sam's Camp Defender I have had for a few years and have used and slightly abused . Maybe there is a good reason to put an ugly coating on a rough use blade exposed to meat juices and weird plant juices ect.

I did have to sharpen the black bladed knife a bit before use, I did NOT have to sharpen the little Kaiken I just got, it was hair popping sharp and after my wifes vegetable slicing for a week I still don't have to touch up that knife on a 2000 grit belt, yet. This black bladed knife holds an excellent edge and I touch it up on a 600 stone as I do the Camp defender. This little knife is my "user" around the yard so far this year. One last shot of the well used Camp Defender :neener:

Thanks.

I'm still mad at Sam for selling you that CD: it was the first.

Wow! That CD has taken some use! Awesome! I love seeing it with wear on it!

Thanks for the reviews and I am so glad you've been pleased! :)

(That Mk1 blade is in 52100 -- thus the necessity of the coating.)
