I keep watching for an increase in the cost of ammo.:barf: But I have been paying the same price for 9mm and .45ACP from MidwayUSA since February, 2008.

I just bought more of each cal. of Magtech today and paid the same price that I paid in Feb....now that I have written about it, the price is sure to go up.

Have ammo prices really gone up like you read about? What gives?

"Have ammo prices really gone up like you read about?"

Yes, it has. 9mm was down under $5 a box 2 years ago. Now it's $9 a box. (CCI Blazer Brass ammo @ Wal*Mart- the best deal I can find).

Overall factory ammunition has at least doubled and in some cases tripled in price in the past 2-3 years.

Remember when you could get milsurp .308 for ten cents a round, and you could choose which one you wanted? Now getting milsurp .308 at forty cents a round is par for the course and there are very few options.

Primers were $10/k a few years ago, now they are $35/k and up.

So yes, ammo has really gone up in price, no fooling.

Will it keep going up? Probably, but I think the monthly increases are behind us. Just don't look for discounts anytime soon. My sources say an increase in August. But then, who really knows?

Thanks for the heads up. I heard that on August. This recent purchased might have saved me a few pennies.:D

I agree, prices today vs. 1 or 2 years ago is higher, I just hope pricing has stabilized for a while now.

From a few years ago yes, ammo has gone up a lot; but in the past 6 months I haven't seen much of an increase.

Anyone think that ammo will go down? Oil prices dropped slightly and lead and other metals have dropped in price too.

My retailers like myself do not raise the ammo prices until we start paying under the new price schedule. This can be days, weeks or months.

I had my Gold Metal 308 ammo at the same price for almost two years before I started paying more for it.

Wal Mart often runs two price hikes behind the mfg. Many just recently raised prices from the January fifth mfg increase.

Yup.. Just a few years ago I bought 500 rnds of Winchester whitebox 115gr 9mm for $50 at Sports Authority. Now I wish I'd bought more as most places 500 rnds are well over twice that. Ouch!
