The job is thinking of relocationing me to San Antonio. I know it's good for all the shooting sports so hobby wise it's gold. What I need from any THR members is the best (outside of city) areas to live south/east or south/west of the city. Google has helped much. Thanks.

Its been a long, long time (1966) since I was stationed at Fort Sam Houston
(91A10 U.S. Army Medical School); but I really enjoyed it~! Breckenridge
Park is a must for the family; and of course, be sure to visit the Alamo. ;)

I would luv to go back for a visit; before I get too darn old~!

The North/East side is the place to be. How far are you willing to drive? What do you want to spend on living accomodations? There are some very nice areas within a 30-45 minutes of downtown. Traffic is terrible early and late on most of the highways so you don't want to cross town in the morning or evening.

Best and fastest growing area is Northwest. as far as ranges not a lot that are not private, have an open one out Grossenbacker rd, then an indoor one on BANDERA RD. but pretty expensive (365.00 a year and their ammo). There is a couple of older but nice ones on Southside. Right now u may want to reconsider moving here, seems temp has been at or very near 100 for past 5-6 weeks and dry as a bone. Still I wouldn't trade S.A. for MANY OTHER PLACES T O LIVE!! If u do move here, know ur very welcome!!

It is a great place to live, once you get over the heat. Where will you be working, what part of the city will you be traveling to daily??? I work at Fort Sam and live on the northeast side, on Saturday it is a 30 minute drive to the office, on weekday it is a hour mininum.

It's about 25 minutes outside 1604 & 281 on 1863 (about a 30 minute total drive for me).

Open air, open to the public, and you can buy a one-year membership for $125, which includes 1 target per visit (unlimited time & guns) or it's $10 per person.

There's competitions every Saturday & Sunday - IDPA, etc... BIG turnout

Also, it's run by a retired SAPD officer who takes safety very seriously.

I live 5 miles from cedar ridge range. It happens my subdivision is just down the street, I did not know it was there when we decided to move there!!
